Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Mac Cosmetics

Dear Hiring Manager:

I was recently referred by an employee at the MAC counter of the Macy’s located at XXX to apply for the newly opened beauty advisor positions. I have gained an exceptional amount of knowledge and experience of makeup application over the years. 

I’m currently a freelance make-up artist for the MAC cosmetics counter at the Macy’s located in XXX. In the past, I assumed a position as a make-up artist for an online clothing store where I applied makeup to their models for photo-shoots and was also the head make-up artist for their fashion show. I also obtained a position as an assistant makeup artist for a notable makeup artistry company for about two years where I was taught to not only apply makeup in a professional manner, but also learned to focus on skin-care as well. I am now looking for a more stable and permanent position at your company because I know for a fact it will aid in my continuing knowledge of the cosmetic world.

I have the ability to meet and succeed sales and quotas due to my past retail experience. I’ve got strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. I am also goal-driven, with ability to multi-task and be a part of a team. 

I believe with my past experiences, knowledge and skills I’d make a great candidate for this position.
